i love this freekin' pedal...
This is a GREAT demo! I don't know why, but your whole style of demoing just draws me in...when you start talking about lazers and fog, I'm like "yeah...that's friggin' right"!
Anyway, good choice on the clipping diodes. I think I will go back and mod mine like yours. Other than the difference in clipping, this is exactly what the pedal should sound like and is pretty spot on to mine.
Thanks for posting and for the plug!

thanks for the kind words and awesome project bro...i learned alot building it, and it's cool cuz i've built a bunch of formant pedals now, and this is one of the better ones...really similar to the ludwig pII we re-designed...you can almost make it talk when it's dialed in right!!!
looking forward to building a few more projects when i can afford it, and be glad to pimp 'em for ya with my humble demo videos.
i fu**ing LOVE this pedal brian!! well done!!
the only thing...i'd love to see it made so it could fit in a wah shell. if i could twist that depth knob with my foot, i'd probably explode with joy!! lol
my advice? socket the diodes....then you can find the perfect match!!
peace !
Great demo. Id've never considered building this one, but now it's on the list. Thanks!
:D
be careful soldering!! it's not bad at all, but there are a few places where it can get a little tricky.
but i think you'll really dig it when ya build it!
fog does make lasers look like 3 dimensional objects, doesn't it? That's such an interesting way of describing that.
anyway, I really want one of these now, I'll hafta order one after exams end. good demo!
heh heh...dude, this pedal sounds a lot better than my crummy demo does!!
;)
enjoy!!
I love the presentation style Jimi, even when you begin to ramble a bit it's still VERY entertaining! (As opposed to other people who start to go um, ah, ah, um, and this does, ah...)
Does the Honeydripper have trouble picking up the notes with sloppy playing like the Lowrider does?
Awesome demo! Mind if I link that on my site?
Finally, a good Dipthonizer demo! Thanks man! Position two also sounded the best to me and you're absolutely right about lasers and fog. ;)

i'd have to play sloppy to know that. <vbg>
i haven't noticed that, imho the sloppier you play, the more vowel like it gets.
i haven't tried a lowrider, so really can't comment.
man...thinking about making an offer to pedal builders...send me a free board, and i'll pimp the pedal for ya when it's done...feed my addiction that way!! lol
glad ya liked the demo dude. peace!

thanks bro! ;)
lazers and fog are something i'm pretty intimate with...lol
Great demo. Thanks!
good stuff! love the laser/fog analogy :)
thanks guys....if you remember the 70's and lazer shows at concerts, you know just what i mean. ;)
Just put it together in a shell, awesome on bass too!
Just great! Another pedal I NEED now. Way to go pinkjimiphoton... Way to go!
;D
Great sounding pedal. Never crossed my mind to build it, but it's now on my list to do!
And as others have said, your demo videos are great!

I saw this clip of Pinkjimiphoton just before I built the Honeydripper, it made my mind up there and then I was going to build it. He makes it talk a lot better than I do, but I did the mod he talks about and it is a great pedal, I put a rams head in front of it as well and it is Wow :)
Trippy....yeh, Jimi is great entertainment value :)

three secrets to making this work best:
1: overdrive after, fuzz before
2: way less sensitivity than you'd think.. just above half way up is good, depending on which "voicing"
3: wanna make it talk more? if a strat/tele guy, SWELL INTO NOTES. that will let you sweep the filiter, and give you far more control over the quacks.
the lower your guitar volume, the harder ya gotta hit it to get the effect... the higher, the lighter.
so i often am picking lightly and then swelling into whatever amount of dripper i need to make it work.
you can really get it to track your playing nicely doing that.
much harder on a gibson or anything that doesn't have a strat style volume knob.
but those three tricks will help you get the most out of your dripper, imho..
hope it helps man!!
rock on

Hey Jimi
I just finished my honeydripper, sounds sweet but a bit different to yours.
I know there are a million and one variables but I have a couple of questions about your build:
When you say you built it stock apart from from a 1n34a and 1n914 (1n4148?) in the clipping section, I presume you stuck to the BOM rather than Brian's mod suggestions?
Secondly, when you said you tried some different ICs until you were happy, what did you try and what did you settle on?
Thanks again for inspiring me to build this pedal!
Dirty love to ya ;)
i honestly don't remember what the hell i did, but i think i posted it all either here, diystompboxes and/or freestompboxes.org.
if i recall correctly, i used an 1n34a on one side, and a 914/4148 on the other.
i swapped out dual opamps until i was happy. could be anything in there, probably a 4558 if memory serves..
my memory is hazier than the lazer shows during the 70's, man, if ya catch my drift...
cof...foc... lol
Nice! Something tells me bean is going to sell out of Honeydrippers soon. I want one!
