Title: Mangler Pre-Gain Mod
Post by: pryde on March 03, 2012, 04:05:08 PM
I am doing a mangler build and want to add the pre-gain mod to it and want to make sure it is wired-in right. So does wiring go:

Input jack tip->lug 2 of 100kb pot->lug 3->to input of pcb?

Is this correct? Are there any resistors/caps I need to also wire inline? Thanks for the help!

That will work. When the pot is all the way counter clockwise, you will have 100k of series resistance, which is what helps reduce the subsequent fuzz. When it's all the way up, no resistance is present, so you get full on fuzz.

This mod is great. Just from your wording I would mention to put it after the footswitch, not before. That way when it is bypassed the pre gain pot is not in the chain.
