Title: 28 Gauge Ribbon Wire
Post by: justinlawless on July 21, 2022, 08:50:29 PM
I have some 28 gauge ribbon wire I was thinking about using to connect some PCBs to a foot switch PCB. I wired up one pedal with it and it seemed to work fine but is there a reason I shouldn't use it? I typically use 24 gauge for all my wiring but don't have any ribbon in a heavier gauge at the moment.

I wouldn't worry unless you're pumping serious amperage at or greater than 12~18volts through it. If it's just signal/led power no fears of it overheating.

My only concern would be mechanical durability -- thinner wires are easier to break. Assuming you aren't using crimp connectors on the ends, it would probably be a good idea to add some hot glue to keep it from wiggling.
