Title: Info on the next batch of projects.
Post by: madbean on December 13, 2011, 11:28:53 PM
Here's what I'm for sure doing.
Boneyard, CherryBomb, PastyFace, LaVache, Pig Butt and Retrograde.

If I can finalize it in time: Stage Fright

And re-ordering the Low Rider.

I'll set up pre-orders in a few days. I expect to be shipping these right at the end of Dec./beg. of January.

The next batch after this one will be mostly all new stuff...big projects, and super-fun ones! Those will be at the beginning of Feb., most likely.

Excellent news!!
Fingers crossed the Stage Fright will be ready.

Will the Aquaboy Deluxe be in the following order of new stuff due in Feb?

Nice! All with board mounted pots, I assume?

Except for the Retorgrade. The height of the transformer makes it a little to close for comfort. So, there are two holes for stand-offs instead. Everything is PCB mounted pots. I'll be doing less of PCB mounted switches, though. They are more trouble than they are worth, IMO, except in really tight layouts.

Definitely count me in for a stage fright, probably a boneyard and lavache as well. :)

Finger crossed that the February batch includes the sub-mini Rump Roast.

As soon as you said "best overdrive I've heard" I was like  :o  and now I have to build it.

LOL, now I need to figure out what to do with all these lug style pots I stocked up on...

You can still use them on PCB mount projects. Use leads from resistors or caps and make 'legs' on the lugs. I do it on a lot of my builds. Saves from having to buy two different types of pots in the same values. I used to buy PCB mount pots, but I don't bother anymore, at least not for most things.

Thanks Jacob...Not sure why I didn't think of that, lol. Looks like I'll finally be getting around to a Boneyard build.

Sad not to see the baby boards or the weener wah (waiting on that one).  There is nothing there that excites me so maybe I might just have to buy a Dirtbag to keep me busy. ;)

I concur. I've been wanting a tube project and this could be just the ticket.

Great stuff coming up! I'm kinda glad it's getting pushed back a bit as there is so much to do!!
+2 for the stage fright

Yeah, I'll be able to put the Stage Fright in the next batch. I may have to put off something else depending on what the revised HD boards cost. On the plus side, I did confirm my final Rump Roast build a few days ago so that will be the first sub-mini project. Sounds awesome!

they all sound good . . .  but will there be a definite eta on the weener wah please?

Seems my little vox wah shell has been waiting forever, sitting in the corner longing to join his pedal brothers at the gigs.   :'(
Sorta like the story of Flick the little Fire Engine. . . really sad  :(
I keep saying Mr Beans really busy and he'll get round to it soon but voxy just sits there and says wah wah (well he would if he could but he got no guts :o)

Please please MB can we have a weener wah  so Voxy can finally play with the big boys please :-*

I'm looking forward to building a Low Rider as well as a few others. I have had great success with the other Madbean boards I've used so far.

The LR is really impressive. One of the best tracking octave pedals I've ever heard.

With  2n5457 trannys sure, with the stock 2sk30's it's a bit ropes but not to detract from a stunning DIY build.

I can't wait to get going on some of these new projects. However there is one question that is bothering me: is there any reason for the omission of the 'Mid' control on the Pig Butt? I know it isn't a feature found on the original, but I always liked that the Mudbunny gave you the option of having one...

I know you can add one without too much trouble. So if you really want one that's a doable mod.

It's a different kind of Muff though, the Op Amp type, so maybe that's why Brian left it off.

Some people just like a switch, some people might not like the mod etc.

I'm not too keen on having the Ruetz mod on the Rat boards personally, i'd rather it was a 3 knobber.

Plus this has a Tone Bypass (you can see the pads) so it would make two controls redundant.

Yeah it doesn't look too hard to do, I was just wondering if maybe Brian left it off because it sounded awful or something.

Yeah it was interesting to see the Tone Wicker mod get included. From what I've seen the Op Amp muffs were always 'bigger' and louder than the standard Muffs, so a switch that makes it 'bigger'-er and louder-er sounds like fun.  ;D

I opted for the tone stack bypass instead of a mid control on this one. It will be a true hard-bypass, too....it takes the tone circuit completely out of the circuit to prevent any possibility of loading down the output.
