This will be the first of a few builds that Dan sold me on with his VFE Friday series ;D
This is the tightest of all the VFE build I've done. It takes a lot of planning to get everything together without too much melting of parts. I had to solder in one pin of each pot, then take it apart and solder them from the back. Also, I had to notch out the lid to make space for the electros on the side, but I got it all crammed in there ;D
Soudwise, I was hoping to be able to get rhythmic delays, like from the Sagan. However, it's tricky to set the times just right. I think this one is it's own thing. I'm looking forward to messing around with it some more.
Enclosure is no-film on a Tayda powder coat. I used some fancy Small Bear knobs including the 9mm slide on covers for the plastic shaft pots.

Yeah that looks excellent! I bought a board for this recently but maybe I need to work up to it after your build report!
As yeah, very nice. Time to stock up on small electros. I built a couple of these, one for me and one for a friend. You can get that rhythmic delay going, like you said, you just gotta tweak it. Nice job squeezing that in there, especially the DC input. I hate the side ones, but haven't quite been brave enough to try it on the VFEs.

Stunning work and I love that graphic! Dialing in a rhythmic delay sound is not the easiest to do, if you start with delay 2 and get that sound right then you can add delay 1 to start getting rhythmic sounds. I am putting out a video on Wednesday for this very pedal talking about and showing off some tones.

I think this one might be happier in a 125B. Also, I usually mount the pots in the box and then solder the board in. That's not the way to do this one.

I've got the small electros, it just didn't dawn on me that they were going to be under the lip on the enclosure lid. The DC input is as low as I can get it, also not easy to screw in, but I also am annoyed by the side DCs.

Really impressive work again John. To get all that in a 1590b like that is a feat. And you know I have tried numerus delay pedals with tap and multiple delay lines but I find it so hard to use them. I think it's easier to use a simple delay and to turn the time knob to get the rhythm I want. And that graphic is killer!

They for rather nicely in a 1590b enclosure. I've used one for all of mine so far. If you follow the the drill template, you won't have any issues. On smaller layouts, I've gotten into the habit of laying my electros on their side or using smaller ones.

Haven't built that one. Almost sounds like a challenge though.

I chickened out and went with a 125b, gorilla hands and tiny enclosures do not mix well.

Yep, all of the VFEs were designed for 1590Bs with a battery! 125B with side mounted jacks would be easier. I've put a few in 125Bs with top mount jacks, but that takes some planing and doesn't work with all the layouts.

There is also a "Yodeler Switch" version where the internal switch is external and one of the other controls is combined on a dual gang pot. I almost did an oskpark on that one but went with the regular version first since fairchild had those made

I built the sps system yodeler which has the external switch and the dwell is a dual pot. There are no trimmers on the inside like the standard version and it is really quiet and sounds great.
Maybe if we all ask Brian really nicely he could come up with something amazing.
I wonder if any of the SPS stuff will make it here or available as a DIY package (those were offered during the Kickstarter, I think?), particularly because Peter is going to license out the circuits / designs this year.
Man, that no film decal comes out sharp as a razor.
I accidentally bought a buttload of those micro knobs thinking they were a bit bigger. At least now I know if I ever get around to the vfe stuff, they'll fit on there
