if I understand this corectly, we don't have to use 3pdt switches on the loophole 2pdt should be enough.

You are right. 3PDTs are just about cheaper then DPDT these days. Most of us use the 3PDTs in any situation like this.

I have easy acces to dpdt switches, so i use them a lot.
