Hi All
Can someone please straighten me out once and for all on the power connections ?
I need : all the way from Wall wart to PCB pads via switch explanation ; if possible.
As i have it wired right now :
I have a 24V Wall wart with a positive tip +24V ,
the +24V at the tip of the jack is going to the - (neg) pad on the PCB.
the sleeve of the jack is going to the + (pos) pad on the PCB.
This has begun to cook my 240 Ohm resistor and probably fried the regulator.
(admittedly... i forgot to put in a 1W 240ohm , it was a 1/4W ; will remedy that tomorrow ).
Is this wired fundamentally wrong ?
You wired it opposite. The TR is a positive ground effect. This means your +24v goes to the square pad on the PCB (which is ground) and the sleeve goes to the round pad on the PCB. When in doubt look at the traces (or the pic of them in the doc). You can see that the round pad connects directly to R57 so that is power. Since your +24v WW is connected to ground, the sleeve connected to the round pad essentially becomes -24v.
Thanks Brian,
It's exactly what i needed to hear.
