Title: Harbinger One- Kafka Vibe
Post by: bscur on May 06, 2016, 11:14:46 PM
I recently finished this one and it was very gratifying. The Naughty Fish gave me a lot of trouble, but this fired up right away and sounds very lush. The hardest part was dialing in the right combinations of trimpots. Thanks for the tech advice on that. When I had it too bright, it made a clearly on/off modulation slapping/thumping sound instead of the throbbing sound when it was glowing and just pulsing light. I socketed Q13 and bought some MPSA13's but ended up not using them. For the graphics I based this on one of my favorite authors- Franz Kafka. He's been a favorite my whole life and I enjoy how he distorts reality and imparts a dreamy, often nightmarish quality to his work. This seemed about right for the sound of the pedal and I found a font based on the look of his handwriting (although obviously not in German).

Superb job! What colour enclosure is that? Looks very Dimension C.

Hi, thanks.  The color is RAL 4005 (Blue Lilac). I bought the powder from Columbia Coatings. At first I had a dark pearl purple, but I had to strip it because the decal was impossible to see on that background. It would be great to be able to print in white. However, I think this came out for the better. It reminds me of the color on the mojo vibe I used to own.

love the theme!  nice job on the powdercoating too.  Did you clear coat over the decal?

Hi, yes I did do clear powder coat over the decal. I've found the laser decals don't burn if I only cure them at about 340 degrees in five minute sessions. Any longer and they turn brown.

That finish is killer! I dig the different knob styles.
