Title: Power supply filtering?
Post by: Wellu on April 15, 2016, 02:23:25 PM
Hello.
I made a overdrive multi-box including: red llama->rat->super hard on. When i turn the sho on, i get a terrible noise (most likely from a cheap power supply) does anyone have a go-to filter layout ?

Can you post a schematic for the versions of these you built?

Hi Jon!

I don't have the schematics, only vero layouts.

Rat: http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.fi/2012/01/proco-rat.html

Super Hard On: http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.fi/2013/02/zvex-super-hard-on-compact-layout.html

Red Llama: http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.fi/2012/06/way-huge-red-llama.html

Please locate schematics that match the vero projects, then. Also, you're going to have to provide details of how you've hooked up the projects in the multi etc.

I'm not trying to be rude, but these are not uncommon projects and you're asking people to (a) backtrace a vero layout for you, which is time consuming and (b) potentially answer a generalized question without being on the same page as you.

In general, power supply filtering is commonly present on nearly every project. Look at the schematic for any of Madbean's boards and you'll see a filtering section at the 9V input. Compare with what you've built.

Hey.

Ok, problem solved, it was just the horrible power supply.

Sorry for wasting your time.

and thanks! :)
