here is my darkside build that I'd put together last year. I used carbon comps where available. and bc549 transistors. I really like the tone of this one. I might try building another without the bass reduction mods, and some tweaks to add more sweep to the tone control. I made a gothic style decal as a play on the circuits name.

That's a sweet looking build, inside and out. 8)

You rock and are an inspiration!

lolz... yup
You need to start building in transparent enclosures to show off that wiring and those mojo components ;)
i quit! ;D

If only the circuit board was black or orange!!
Ill say you got all the tricks down! 8)

Are those StratWhiz's secret 1n60's? Haha, man that guy sure stirred up some shit over at FSB. I am going to be building this soon, did you experiment with the combo of silicon and germ clippers?

Haha, stratwhiz was just this persistent troll over at FSB who claimed he had done all this research getting his G-2 to sound spot on to the original and claimed that he found these magic diodes that made his G-2 sound miraculous but when asked where he got them and the electrical specifications he spitefully withheld the information and started to bash some of the good FSB folks. It is really quite interesting and aggravating at the same time.
lol, I think almost every thread over there eventually de-evolves into some pedal nerd slugfest. gotta love it!
Nice build!
What did you use for the artwork?
It's not waterslide since it's white? right?
its white waterslide stock
i used BAT 41 diodes and all mods and the effect works great with the settings : VOL 2'clock, Tone 2'o clock , and SUSTAIN 9 o'clock when the SUS goes over the 9 o'clock the tone is getting dirty , do you have other results with 1n60 ???
thanks michael
yeah I don't know if those were 1n60's but they were really smooth and mellow. I replaced d1&2 with 3mm yellow leds and it sounds great. much crunchier and louder.

Have you tried using other LEDs and gotten different results? Ive only tried 3mm superbright blue LEDs and they sound fabulous. I would totally describe LED's used as clippers in the same way; loud, cruchy, big open sound, less compression but it stills holds a lot of gain!! Are you using diffused ones?
yeah the cheap diffused leds.
