Here's the populated "Loophole" board for the up-coming lo-fi looper. This thing turned out really well. I was able to eliminate some of the noise by selecting the right kind of tone control. There are some noisy settings, but it's very acceptable for a lo-fi application.
Gonna box this one up today or tomorrow. I'll post the completed pic when I can. This thing will fit in a 1590B or 1550B with two 3PDT switches. It'll be tight, but it will be a benefit to have the switches close together due to how it operates (you have to toggle both at once in some cases). 125B will make things a little more roomy...at least there are options depending on the kind of space you want to give it.

mmm... ;D
any chance we'll get a demo? (before I order one anyways)
awesome, very excited about this one.
;D
sounds great, looking forward to this.
Super stoked for this one. This, the clarinot and the Dirtbag delay are next on the list! Just need to get some of these obsolete chips.
In!
Can't wait. ;D
cool, does it have a vibrato control?

No, this doesn't have that. With the Detune mod that's included you can get some vibrato manually.
can't wait to see some demos of this when it's released!
Sounds promising! I have no idea what this effect is so I'm looking forward to some demo explanations too!
Finished product. Works like a charm. A total bitch to wire up in that enclosure so this will probably be a "genius" type project. Anyway, I'll do some kind of demo tomorrow!

That's awesome. I really don't see me having any need for a pedal like this, but I want one really bad now :)
Sweet, want ;D
Epic! Love to hear a demo, what a cool project :)
Wow! Great job dude! What's that little switch in the middle for?
Congrats on being able to stuff all that in there man! I'm sure it wasn't easy...
Looking forward to ur demo too ;)

awesome! can't wait for this one, and to see what else is coming.
would it be difficult to add an effects loop to it to send the looped part to a different chain of effects and/or amp?
i'm sure others would like to do that as well. it would be cool if you could show how to do it in the build documentation.
Even though I don't have plans to build this in the near future. It will be great to see what everyone does with it!!

Yes, you can insert an effects loop into the recording path. After the input stage, the signal is fed into a dry and record path. The record level is set by a single resistor. By removing that resistor, you can create a send and return, and then the output of whatever is in that effects loop will set the record level. Obviously, you will want to use a bigger enclosure, but I think it could be done with a 125B.

look...
What's the maximum recording time on this?
Loophole, thats a great name!

What's the maximum recording time on this?
I'm guessing 20 seconds based off the datasheet of the ISD1020A

20 seconds sampled at around 6kHz.
huh, compared to the lo-fi loop junkie,
recording time is the same, sampling rate on 'Bean's is higher: 2.6 khz vs 6khz

i'm pretty sure a 6khz sampling rate would mean the frequency response goes up to 3khz, which is about the same as the zvex
agh, duh. you're right
The Loophole doc is up!

Thanks man... what a cool project! :o 8)
That's a tight fit! I think I'll put it in a 1590bb or maybe a 125b if I'm on a good day, my hands are already shaking....
Bought ;D
i just ordered one!
the part about adding an effects loop in the build doc was about putting it on the way in to record; i think it would be more useful on playback so you can send the looped part to a different amp and/or effects.
looking at the schematic, i'm wondering if you could take the output from the wiper of the play pot and go back in at the board where you would wire the play pot wiper
would that work?
thanks bean! i'm really excited about this project
mojofilter---I believe that will work, too. You could probably have two loops if you wanna go crazy. Pre and post.
I know you guys will come up with lots of cool stuff!
awesome!
good thing i'm not afraid of big enclosures
I'm going with a 1590BB for mine. I don't want to have to stuff everything in there too tight.
seems like this might be a cool project to try Jack Orman's relay bypass
