Title: Transistors for Superfuzz
Post by: GeorgeFormanGrill on April 22, 2015, 12:41:58 PM
Hi all:

I'm trying to find the right transistors to make a Superfuzz clone I'm working on really sing. I've read that the 2sc828 is essential. Would this part from Smallbear do the trick?

Thanks,
George

Those would work--I used those in my Standard Fuzz clone and they sound really good. Just keep in mind they have an ECB pinout.

The gains on those tend to be around 220 hfe, which is basically the same as 2n2222a or 2n3904. So I think it's the gain range that's essential to consider more than the part number. I personally think Superfuzz clones I've heard with metal can 2n2222a sound great.

Good luck with your build!
