Here is a Rangemaster Build I did the other day, with a OC44 Yellow Jacket transistor.

(Hope I'm not braking any rules by posting this, Its a 'one of' l have already sold, just thought some members would get a kick out of some vintage tag strip action)
Man. This is awesome. I have looked all over for those yellow jackets. I'm not going to say this looks professional, because this IS PROFESSIONAL. Just great great skills! Love it. I'm really interested in trying a couple tagstrip layouts.
Steve.
Great job Brook. I love the rolled edge of the enclosure and the point to point layout.
Cody
Amazing work! Damn impressive, sir.

Ahhh cunning fake rolled edges!
I copied a trick they used on the original Dallas Rangemaster enclosure, and used car trimming from a Mini cooper!

Amazing. Looks like you jumped in a time machine, bought an original, and came back to 2015!
Love it! Very nice job 8)
Oh yeah! This looks so good. Any chance you took a more straight-on shot of the guts so we can admire the tag work?
Are you kidding me, what an insanely detail re-creation. Just beautiful!

This is the only shot I have of a slightly better gut shot.

Brilliant timewarp! 8)
Really nice! Can I ask what that silver thing is that says 5000J?

polystyrene capacitors
They are cool little guys aren't they.
Cody
very cool build!
That is sitting right on top of the food chain!
Beautiful! 8)
That's just amazing! Love it!

Yes, these are Polystyrene (Styroflex) Capacitors (5000 denotes is 5000pF/5nF/0.005uF), they have fallen a little out of favour as it's hard to find them in a good range of values, but I personally really like using them for input/output caps as they have such low leakage, low dielectric absorption and low distortion, so used a 5nF for the input, and 8,2nF for the output on this build.
You only really see them in audio applications now days.

Good source for polystyrenes in NA is Just Radios, have a high minimum order but a wide range of values , 10pf - 10,000pf, big selection of CC resistors and i've been using their various high voltage coupling caps in my guitar amp builds and been completely happy with the results.

Great looking build, you've really nailed the original's look.

Yes, have used them a few times, the shipping cost is not to bad to Europe as well!
Sehr nette Arbeit. Der einzige Sachevermißte ist einige Rostpunkte. Es würde ein trügerischer Klon sein. :o
