Title: afterlife issue
Post by: Jules on February 06, 2015, 10:24:46 AM
Hi all, I built an afterlife compressor recently and have been testing it with a 9 volt battery b4 I box it. It is a nice subtle compressor however in the last 1/5 of the sustain pot I am getting a distorted signal. Has anyone come across this before? Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks
Jules

I have the same with a Flatline comp I built on perf. I just assumed it's normal because the gain is also increasing when you increase the sustain knob. So I never push it to the extreme. May have to do with the Opto-isolator used as well.
I was using an NSL32 in mine. Curious to read what others experience with theirs.

I have built two or three Afterlifes and did not experience this issue with any of them.

Jules, did you make any substitutions from the stock parts, e.g. a different photocoupler?

Check that R6 is 330R, not 330K.
