Title: Colorsound Jumbotonebender, more volume!?!
Post by: garfo on November 27, 2014, 01:16:23 PM
Ei there, I have been using a Jumbo tonebener clone that I've built a while ago from the ggg site. I love the sound of the pedal but now that I'm using it more often I notice that it lacks on volume compared with my normal sound.
I was thinking that perhaps I could add the last stage but I'm not sure how to do it. Looking at the boards layout I can see that this and the Supa tonebender are very similar. So, could I use the final stage of the supa tonebender on the Jumbo tonebender? If possible not using the second clipping, just use it as an amplifying stage?
Not sure I can post the schematics here...

yeah if I recall correctly it's the same as the big muff just sans the last amplification stage hence the volume drop. I have an original and it's way below unity, in order to use it i had to stuck an LPB-1 at the end of it, works great.

...does it make sense If I leave the two extra clipping diodes out? I mean build everything without the two clipping diodes that are originally missing!?

Another thing I've been struggling with this build, my bass is active and the signal is way hotter than when the muff is on. But that doesn't happen If I run a passive bass or guitar. I believe this is a general big muff thing, but, would adding an input impedance pot help or would just bring the volume even more down?
