Title: Darkside.. Help! 1N5401 problem
Post by: sdlogan9 on July 05, 2014, 07:37:51 PM
So I ordered 1N5401's from Mouser here..  This is the exact ones I got.

The problem is..  they are HUGE!

Did I get the right ones>?

Problem is that they will not fit in my etch.  The leads are way to fat to fit in the holes... even if I drill the holes larger it will be larger than the traces that its supposed to thread through.

the pcb is probably laid out for something in a DO-41 pkg right there.

just substitute 1n4001.  i think it should work fine.

Use Bat46 if you got 'em.

Reverse polarity? 1n4001. Sorry, I spoke too soon.

Isn't the 1N5401 in the Darkside circuit used for reverse polarity protection? I wouldnt think a shottky diode would be ideal in that application - too much reverse current leakage.

Just happened to me tonight.. Did a quick search for a 5401 replacement and BAM! found this thread. Just thought I would send it to the top since Black Horse Effects is selling the Duplex Drive again.
