Title: Runt / Slow Loris gain channel switching mod report
Post by: raccoondad on May 22, 2014, 06:49:18 PM
There's no rocket science going on over here, but I wanted to report a simple mod I implemented in my recent Runt build to switch between two preset gains. I ran the wiring for Gain from the PCB to a 3PDT stomp switch, and then I ran each of the 2 switch states to it's own 100kA pot. By hitting the 3PDT switch, you switch gain pots. Because pins 3 & 2 on the gain pot are connected, you only require 2 wires for each pot, allowing you to hook up a "status indicator" LED to know which channel you are using.

Again, pretty simple stuff, but I found out that it really works great. The RAT circuit sounds so good at low and higher gains that being able to switch between them while playing is really useful (and negates the need for a separate OD/boost for my needs). The simplest solution is often the best, right?

Yea! I have always thought that type of mod hasd a lot of bang per buck, kinda like the Barber 2 channel pedals
