Title: About Aristrocrat MA856
Post by: repertuaari on April 09, 2011, 03:01:19 PM
I know that MA856 diodes are available at effectsconnection, but during the last couple of days the site hasn't been working (some database error). Does anyone know any other place to get those diodes? Or is there any good substitute for Ma856?

Do you happen to know the email address? info@effecsconnection.com or something maybe?

Title: Possible sub for the MA856 -- Vishay BA282
Post by: redbean on April 14, 2011, 07:04:31 PM
After I saw the price of the only available ma856, I decided to research another cheap, alternative to augment the subs already provided in the madbean Aristocrat build directions, a pedal which I can't wait to build! ;D.

Here is a PDF of the MA865 (Panasonic MA2C856) data sheet I found:
http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/panasonic/SKG00002BED.pdf (http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/panasonic/SKG00002BED.pdf)

Here's the proposed alternative, found at Vishay Semiconductors:
http://www.vishay.com/docs/85526/ba282,%20b.pdf (http://www.vishay.com/docs/85526/ba282,%20b.pdf)

Found at Mouser for $0.08 (40,631 available to ship immediately):

Disclaimer: I have no idea if this will work, and I haven't built a single pedal yet... though, boxes of parts are arriving. Hopefully it won't be long before I can start my first build. :)
