Title: Hand torch
Post by: madbean on January 12, 2014, 07:26:54 PM
I recently acquired a handheld torch for some plumbing repairs I did not end up doing. Has anyone here ever used a torch (fire torch for you Brits, not a flashlight) on a painted enclosure? If so, what were your results? I have an old one I might light up.

Sounds dangerous, and I like it! :). Depends really on the paint if it will burn/peel/char etc. Only one way to find out.

Torch is great for getting bubbles out of envirotex too.

 Great for creme brulee.

I took a torch to some acrylic painted pcbs and it didn't add much. The paint would burn while being torched then immediately extinguish upon removal of flame. Not very interesting as results go.

ed. Used it too for aging pedal hardware like nuts and washers, get a nice patina.

For an almost completed project just went and toasted these for it.

do you want to strip the paint off? if so, it would depend of what kind of paint you have. you might end up with a sticky black spot that u will have to send it off anyways..:P
if is just for fun, dont forget to recorded and upload the video here.
cheers

I remembered seeing someone do something with torches in the past and was able to find it:

It looks pretty cool, but I expect it takes practice. Thanks for the reminder. I may try this now.
