Title: Cherrybomb Caps: Mojo or Retro?
Post by: Pedro Fontacos on June 14, 2013, 12:37:55 AM
Hi all, I've been looking through all the projects and noticed the Madbean cherry-bomb looks pretty interesting my question is regarding the capacitors.  I see there's a lot of spacing on the printed circuit board for larger capacitors. is this purely retro or mojo for sound quality?

In this case, retro and mojo can be used synonymously ;) It doesn't really change anything as far as the sound quality goes (although I'm sure there are people who disagree with me on this, especially the TGP crowd), but it sure does look nice!

Yeah, you can start a pretty major debate with claims like that.  :)

But in my (albeit limited) experience, the mojo is just for show.
You can use the more readily available and less expensive current production caps and get the same sound.
